A unit load is an organization of materials as a single unit, which allows them to be handled by material handling equipment as one load. Unit load generally refers to larger configurations that would be moved by a lift truck such as palletized loads, crates, bales, etc.^[1]

System Components

The efficiency of unit load material handling is based on the performance of three interactive components:

1. Packaging
2. Pallet
3. Material handling equipment^[2]
