A skid is a pallet that does not utilize a bottom deck. It generally supports the top deck by means of blocks and stringers. A skid is typically made of metal and is able to be lifted by a pallet truck as well as a forklift truck. Skids are typically used for loads too heavy to be carried on a pallet.^[1]
