Fork carriage

A fork carriage is a lift truck part attached to the mast where the forks or fork attachments mount. Fork carriages can be either hook type fork carriages or pin type fork carriages, depending on the type of fork. See also forks.[1]

Types of Fork Carriages

Fork carriages have been standardized for hook type fork carriages. There are four sizes of hook type fork carriages rated by lifting capacity of the fork carriage:

  1. Class I carriages: rated for loads up to 2,000 lbs. The carriage bar spacing is 13 inches.
  2. Class II carriages: rated for loads up to 5,550 lbs. The carriage bar spacing is 16 inches.
  3. Class III carriages: rated for loads up to 10,000 lbs. The carriage bar spacing is 20 inches.
  4. Class IV carriages: rated for loads up to 15,500 lbs. The carriage bar spacing is 25 inches.[2]
